21 Weeks...Cannonball!!!!!

This is what the baby looks like inside my womb at 21 weeks. She can hear voices, and her eyebrows and and eye lashes have started to grow! She is covered in a waxy substance and has hair all of her body. Fat is starting to develop on her body, and she's getting bigger and bigger everyday as am I! Nothing fits me in my closet. I have a friend who is about the same amount of pregnant as I am so it's nice that we can talk and vent to each other about things that are happening to our bodies and know that the other person truly understands what's going on!

20 Week Ultrasound...It's a girl!!

Jeff and I went to our 20 week ultrasound yesterday and we thought for sure we were having a boy. As the tech was doing the ultrasound, there was no sign of a turtle head. We were shocked and ecstatic to find out that we were having a baby girl! The Chinese calendar and the heart rate wives tales were correct! Also, after we told my parents that we were pregnant, my Dad drove by his office and in the freshly cut grass there was one tall pink flower in the middle of the yard!!! I should have known then I guess. The baby is in a breach position right now so hopefully in the next 20 weeks she cooperates and turns the right way!!! If she's anything like I was she won't :) (I was a breach baby)

Week 18 & Other recent updates!

We went to the doctor yesterday and I was 18 weeks along. The baby's heart rate was 153 bpm and we could hear the baby sloshing around in my stomach, it was pretty cool.
We thought that we were going to have another ultrasound done that day so we could find out the sex of our baby for sure, but we have to wait another 2 weeks. We are having a fetal anatomy ultrasound done which will tell us the sex of our baby and take it's measurements which is on December 18th! (it seems so far away!)
I had blood work done 2 weeks ago to test for any possible birth defects and everything came back good! The baby is healthy and growing strong!
I have felt it move which was so neat. It started last week whenever I was awake in the middle of the night and sitting very still for a long period of time, it felt like little flutters. I was like "OMG please happen again!!" Of course it didn't for the next few nights and then it happened again. It was so fast that I could not comprehend what was happening. This week it has become more frequent and strong and it's a great feeling!
My mom bought me the infamous book, "What to Expect When You're Expecting," and it is scaring the buhjesus out of me! It tells you so many things you can't do because it will harm the baby somehow. Like it says you can only take cold to medium baths and showers or the baby will overheat. Um whatever! I take like 3 hot baths a day (I'm not exaggerating) and everything is just fine! There's a lot more stuff they say you can't do or eat as well but it would be too long to list them all! I do follow the rules that my doctor gives me, I just don't take it overboard! And I can have seared Ahi Tuna cooked rare once a month YES! J Alexander's here I come once every 30 days for the next 5 months.

Belly Laughs is the best baby book I've read so far

I had always heard about the book Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy and heard that she holds nothing back when she talks about her own experiences with pregnancy. I bought the book yesterday and finished it yesterday (it was only 160 pages long) but I could not put it down. It was so funny and so true to what I have experienced so far. When you talk to people about their experiences I feel like sometimes they either forget about a lot of things or just don't want to tell you the gross stuff that happens. For all of you out there who are pregnant, or want to have a baby I so recommend this book to you! It's so funny and true!!!

16 Weeks

I am 16 weeks along now and I'm still not showing much. You can feel a little bump when you touch my stomach other than that you would never know I was pregnant. I go to the doctor this Friday for my blood work, so please pray that everything turns out good. Here's a picture of what the baby looks like this week. They grow so fast!!!

The past few days...

I haven't been feeling very good, especially these past few days. It just makes me appreciate what moms go through everyday to have babies! I especially appreciate my mom even more now!!
I am lucky that I don't have to work, so when I do feel bad I can just go home and go to sleep. I'm also not tough by any means I'm the biggest baby especially when it comes to my stomach not feeling good.
Jeff has been amazing, even though he has to go to work he is always getting me crackers, medicine, juice, or whatever I need at the 3 a.m. which is when I usually need it. So I guess I can't feel that bad when I have someone right next to me who will always put me before anything else!!! I am blessed and he's the best!

We are now in the 2nd trimester!!

We went to the doctor today and I was 14 weeks along. We got to have another ultrasound, and our baby is getting big! I'm still not really showing yet but I'm sure it will be noticeable soon. The doctor said that everything looked good and I go again in 2 weeks to get blood work done, and then in 4 weeks to see if it's a boy or a girl for sure.

Saturday, October 31, 2009

I am now in the last week of my 1st trimester and hoping that I start to feel better soon. My stomach is starting to get rounder and my mom and I went to a pea in the pod this week and bought maternity jeans. I don't need them yet but I know I will eventually. The baby is fully developed this week but only about 3 inches long (about the size of a lemon). Here's a picture of what it looks like.

We took an at home gender test during my 11th week, which tests certain hormone levels in your urine and predicts if you're having a boy or a girl. It will turn an orange/yellow color if it's a girl and forest green if it's a boy. You have to wait 10 minutes to get the results and only 82% accurate. With in 2 minutes of taking the test, ours turned very dark green. So we have to wait until week 18 to find out if it was right!

Our 3rd ultrasound!

Since everything looked good during our last visit to the doctor, I didn't have to go in for another 4 weeks. So I was 10 weeks pregnant on our next visit. During those 4 weeks of anxiously awaiting to get to see our baby again, I was eating everything in sight and feeling terrible. Fast food was appealing to me and I probably hadn't had any fast food since my freshman year of college. Nothing tastes or smells the same. Uhh! But, of course it was all worth it when we got to see how much our baby was growing. It was awesome!

Our 2nd Ultrasound

Since our baby was too little to be seen yet our doctor wanted us to come back in a week later to see if the baby was growing correctly. I made my appointment for that next Friday, which was 8 days later (I was 6 weeks along by then). When we had our ultrasound we were able to see the baby which looked like a little grain of rice, and we got to see and hear the heartbeat. It was so exciting, and cool to see how fast the little babies grow!

We're Pregnant!!

We found out we were pregnant as soon as we possibly could. I was 3 1/2 weeks along when our pregnancy tests (which I took 4 of because I couldn't believe it) were positive. I immediately made a doctors appointment for that next Thursday which was 9 days later and it felt like a lifetime. When I went to the doctor I found out I was 4 weeks and 6 days along so my ultrasound picture just showed the little sac that was forming but the baby was too little to be seen yet.
